Within the next few weeks some younger members of our community will receive Holy Communion for the first time. Our Neophytes experienced great joy at their first reception of Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil. It is timely to remind ourselves of what we are doing and how we should do it.

Reception of Holy Communion, either on the hand or the tongue must always be reverent. We take the Host in our hand and place it in our mouth and consume it before leaving the place of distribution. If you receive Holy Communion on the tongue you should consume it straight away. It is wrong to remove the Host from your mouth after you have received Holy Communion.
