20th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A

   16 - 17 August 2008

Farewell to St Patrick's

My dear brothers and sisters in the Lord,

I write to thank God, the Bishop, the Parish Pastoral team, and indeed all the parishioners of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta for the few years I have been privileged to be part of the ministry in this parish. It has been a very eventful, enriching, challenging and spirit-filled 895days (Feb.21, 2006 - Aug 15, 2008) of being with you. This week-end, precisely on the great feast of our Lady’s Assumption, the 15th of August, I will be proceeding to my new assignment at Blessed Mary MacKillop’s parish, Upper Blue Mountains.

Thanks immensely for your goodness to me. I have received from you gifts and very many good wishes. I leave the parish with the best of memories and surely will miss your great company. As I go, I will miss the sung Masses with the choir and excellent cantors; the many Sundays we have opportunity to chit-chat with each other during morning tea times; the many devotions that I have had times to participate in and many more. Thank you and thank you and thank you again. May God bless and keep all of you. Amen.

Fr Gerry Ikechukwu Nworie

The singing at the 9.30am Mass will be led by a Cantor. The Liturgy of the Word for Children will continue to be celebrated at the 9.30am Mass each Sunday during the school term.
